YouTube Transcript Search: Easily Download and Search YouTube Transcripts
YouTube Transcript Search is a free Chrome add-on developed by Andre Bradshaw. This handy tool allows users to download YouTube transcripts and search through them all at once to find specific timestamps. With the latest version 1.16 update, the tool has fixed issues related to downloading videos and livestream transcripts, making it even more reliable.
By running the tool on a channel's video tab, users can loop through the videos and extract the transcripts. Once the transcripts are loaded, users can easily search through them to identify the timestamp associated with their desired keyword. Transcripts are downloaded as JSON files for later use, with a maximum file size of about 300MB. If the file size exceeds this limit, multiple files will be downloaded. Previously downloaded transcripts can also be uploaded to save time for future searches.
The search functionality of YouTube Transcript Search is quite powerful. Users can search for words near other words using the tilde symbol (~), create word boundaries with double quotes, and adjust the search range with a custom number variance. The tool also supports OR statements and automatically converts spaces to 0-3 of any character. Once the search is complete, users can download the results as a tab-separated values (TSV) file, which can be opened in Google Sheets or Excel.
Overall, YouTube Transcript Search is a valuable tool for anyone looking to analyze YouTube videos in-depth. It offers a convenient way to download and search through transcripts, saving time and effort in finding specific information within videos.
